Bartell Drugs

Bartell Drugs, a historic pharmacy chain in the Puget Sound region, was acquired by Rite Aid and has since been in the process of being sold off following Rite Aid’s bankruptcy proceedings. As of October 2025, CVS Health has completed an acquisition of select Bartell and Rite Aid locations, but the future of the remaining stores and the brand name itself is uncertain. The once independent company, founded in 1890, has faced multiple store closures, and some analysts suggest the brand may disappear entirely unless a new buyer emerges.
